Wilson was born in a cabin on a farm in Henry Co., Indiana. He attended school in New Castle, Indiana, after which he engaged in the mercantile business awhile. He then established a machine shop at 114 S. Nineteenth St. He built the "Henry Bicycle," and engaged in bicycle work. He operated the shop, which became known as W.A.Shopp & Co. until his death, at which time his sons assumed charge of the business.
Obituary in the New Castle Courier newspaper on July 22, 1926, July 23, 1926, and August 4, 1926. It was also in the New Castle Times on the July 22, 1926 and August 4, 1926.
