Abraham farmed the 133 acres he received from the estate of his father. In
1870 he sold a piece of this land to the trustees of St. Paul's Union church
for the erection of a church building. In 1889 Abram and Mary wre living in
Port Treverton, Penn., when they deeded their farm to their son Daniel. After

Jacob prospered in his farming and became the owner of 226 acres of good arable land. For many years he was a trustee of the United Brethren church that he aided to build in Vandalia. In politics a republican, he was for a long time a township trustee. He was a man of high character and noted for his industry and public spirit.
