Thomas kept the first store in Portland, New York. He removed to Illinois in 1837, where he opened a store and tavern, was elcted a justice of the peace, and appointed postmaster. In 1848 he removed to Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Magdalena made a will that was registered on the 26th day of June, 1873. In the will she made bequeaths to her husband, Joshua, to her neices, Mary and Mattie Kirkman, to her sister Sophronia, and to her brother-in-law, Robert Kirkman. Magdalena was 66 years old when she wrote this will.

Joshua was a merchant in Westfield, New York. He eventually owned two stores in this town and became quite wealthy. He served on the first Board of Education at Westfield Academy in 1837 as the Treasurer. In 1853-1854, he held the office of Supervisor of the Town of Westfield, New York.

Joshua wrote his last will on the 16th day of January, 1878. He states that Jared R. Babcock is his son by his first marriage to Betsy and Henry M. Babcock is his son by his second marriage to Magdalena. In the will his estate was divided between his two sons with the exception of a house that was given to Jared's daughter, Clara. He also left property in Rock Island, Illinois that was occupied by Robert Kirkman.

In 1906, Freely Shires Waggner had the body of her grandmother, disinterred at Stuttgart, Arkansas and buried in the Chippiannock Cemetery in Rock Island Co., Illinois. So it is assumed that Susanna is now buried there.

K. Eby, N.L. Eby, J. S. Eby, and W. J. Eby. She also leaves some to her grand-daughter, Nellie G. Washburn, since her daughter Sarah J. Eby his died earlier.
