John and Anna had 3 sons and 3 daughters who were all born in Sporting Hills, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania.

Jacob was ordained to the ministry at the age of thrity-three in 1807. He
preached for fifty-eight years and served as bishop for thirty-four of those
years until his death at the age of ninety. After the death of Bishop Peter
Eby in 1843 he served as moderator of Lancaster Mennonite Conference. His
funeral was attended by over 1,000 people. He was buried in the family
graveyard on his farm, one-half mile north of Manheim, but his stone was later
moved to the Kauffman Mennonite Cemetery. His descendants remained in Manheim
and the surrounding area.The obituary of Jacob M. Hostetter was published in the Herald of Truth, May, 1865.
582. Abraham M. HOSTETTER

Abraham became a miller and in 1829 built a new section to his father's Mill.
The name plaque for this mill bearing the names of Abraham Hostetter and his
wife, Anna Bucher, is affixed onto the R. W. Hollinger & Sons lumberyard, 135
South Oak Street, in Manheim which today stands on the site of the mill.
