587. Abraham WITMER

Abraham was a Mennonite bishop. He was ordained to the ministry in the early
decades of the 1800's and later became bishop for the district.

Abraham obtained land from his father in Chapman Twp., Snyder Co.,
Pennsylvania (Deed H-397, Uniion Co. Courthouse, Lewisburg, Pennslyvania)
across the Mahantango Creek from his father's house, where he built a stone
house that is still standing (1988).


1956. Barbara WITMER

In 1850, Jacob Forrey was dead and Barbara Forrey was living as a widow with
her four children in Fermanagh Twp. It is believed that Barbara and Jacob
settled in Illinois.


1958. Susanna WITMER

In 1850 Adam and Susan were living in Susquehanna Twp., Dauphin Co.,
Pennsylvania. By 1860 they had moved to Barree Twp., Huntindon Co.,
Pennsylvania. In 1870 Susan was a widow living Petersburg, Huntingdon Co.,
Pennsylvania. In 1900 she was living in Altoona.


Magdalena (Wolf) RISSER

Magdalena had at least two Risser children when she married Abraham. After
Abraham died, she married Michael Bashore who had a number of children be fore
he married Magdalena. The Witmer, Risser, and Bashore children were all raised
together in Abraham Witmer's house in Snyder Co., Pennsylvania.


588. Anna WITMER

Ann was mentioned in the will of her sister Elizabeth Bishop in 1858 but she
died before payment was made. George Leiter received $100 from the Bishop
estate and signed a release (Miscellaneous Book A, p. 500, Mifflintown) in
1861.


George LEITER

George Leiter (John A Leiter, "History and Genealogy of the Leiter Families,
including Lighter, Liter, Lyter") Mennonite bishop in the Juniata district,
purchased 75 acres in 1830 in dLiverpool Twp., Perry Co., Pennsylvania from his
father.

George Leiter was ordained to the ministry in 1829 and later became bishop.

1966. Jacob Witmer LEITER

Jacob also went with the spelling of his surname as Leyder.

Jacob and family were living on a farm in Delaware Twp., Juniata Co.,
Pennsylvania, in 1880. By 1900 they were living in Thompsontown, Pennsylvania.
In 1910 Susan was living with her son Simon.

589. Barbara WITMER

Barbara and John Leiter lived on a farm in Chapman Twp., Snyder Co.,
Pennsylvania. Barbara received a share of the estate of her sister Elizabeth
Bishop. John wrote a will shortly before he died, nameing his brother George
executor.

1970. Barbara LEITER

In 1844 Joseph and Barbara purchased a farm in Liverpool Twp., Perry Co.,
Penn. from George Leiter (Deed T-2-326, Perry Co. Courthouse, New Bloomfield,
Penn.). The farm was located just west of Barner's Church. Joseph and Barbara
lived there until their deaths.

1971. John LEITER

In 1845 John and Sarah moved to Fulton Co., Indiana, where he became the
founder of the town of Leiter's Ford.

In 1830 Samuel and Anna and their children were living on a farm in Fermanagh
Twp., Juniata Co., Penn.

Martha and Anna are twins.


592. Jacob WITMER

In 1829 Jacob Witmer received 133 acres in Greenwood Twp., Juniata Co., Penn,
and Chapman Twp., Snyder Co., Penn., from the estate of his father. He died in
possession of this land and it passed to his son Abrahm (Miscellaneous Book A,
p. 135, Mifflintown, Penn.).


1979. Henry WITMER

Henry Whitmer was living in Fayette Twp., Juniata co., Penn., when he wrote
his will devising his property to his brothers and sisters (Will B-197,
Mivvlintown, Penn.).
