Abraham moved with his parents and family to Linn Co., Iowa in 1847 and
settled on a farm just across the Linn Co. line in Pioneer Township, Cedar
County. (1850 Census, Cedar County, Iowa)On 7 Apr 1864 he was mustered into the Federal service and assigned to Company F, 24th Iowa Volunteer Infantry. Two months later, on 13 June 1864, he died of a prolonged attack of diarrhea while traveling with his Company on a boat near New Orleans. His remains are buried in Section 85, Grave #6959 of Chalmette National Cemetery at Arabi, LA. (NARA Civil War Pension File #55394)
