6422. Henry Jacob HARNLY
Henry was highly educated, gaining many degrees in Illinois as well as a degree from Harvard, Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1892 he accepted the Chair of Science in McPherson College, Kansas. In 1900 he graduated from the Graduate School of Illinois Wesleyan University with a degree of Ph. D.
6423. Andrew H. HARNLY
Andrew obtained his A. B. and A. M. degrees. In 1889 and 1890 he was Professor of Latin and Literature in Mt. Morris College in Illinois. The next year they spent in Portland, Maine. In Oct 1893, Andrew was licensed to preach as a minister of the Baptist denomination. He became a pastor in Illinois, South & North Carolina. In Dec, 1901, he returned to illinois, locating as Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Girard.

John Harnly graduated from Gem City Business College, Quincy, Illinois, and Mt. Morris College. He bought his brother Henry's Lumber, Grain and Hardware business in Glenarm, Illinois. In Oct, 1892, he traveled in England, Wales, Ireland, France and Italy. He then associated with his brothers, Andrew and David, in the publication of the Daily News at Lincoln, Illinois. He taught mathematics in the Ahtanum Academy, Yakima Valley, Washington, and in the Dexter Normal School, Dexter,Iowa. In September 1900, he entered Zion College, Chicago, Illinois, as a student and teacher.

6425. David H. HARNLY
David was a student at Wesleyan University, Bloomington, Illinois in 1889 and 1890. He then went into the Newspaper publication business with his brother Andrew. In 1895, he sold out and formed a partnership with his brother Ben and went to Chadbourn, North Carolina. In March, 1900, he took position as organizer with the American Fruit Growers Union of Chicago. That same year he became the Editor of the Daily Herald, published at Litchfield. He evidentually became the President of the Tribune Corporation and Editor and Manager of the Daily and Weekly Tribune, at Hammond, Indiana.

Ben attended Mt. Morris College, Mt. Morris, Illinois and McPherson College, Kansas. He leased his father's farm near Auburn, Illinois, until 1895 when he went with his brothers to Chadbourn, Columbus Co., North Carolina. He bought a large plantation near Chadbourn and he was also the Principal of the Chadbourn Schools.
