David received his Law degree and practiced that profession in his home town
of Hannibal, Missouri. He was elected City Recorder and served three terms.
In 1884 he was made City Attorney and served at this for five terms. In 1898
he was elected Judge for the Tenth Judicial Circuit Court where he served for
many years.
