York, Penn., enclosing cemetery insriptions from Hershey Cemetery, Manheim
Township, Lancaster Co., Penn.Abraham's will was written on 1 May 1809 (Lancaster Co. Will Y-1-311, 1811.)
The will was filed for probate on the 12th day of June 1811. Witnesses to the
signing of the will were David Mayer and John Bassler. There was no provision
in the will for the appointment of executors and on 12 Jun 1812, Abraham
Herschi and Christian Herschi were appointed Administrators cum testamento
annexo of Abraham Herschi, deceased. (Lancaster Co. Bond Book 6, page 380)Abraham Hershey served in the Revolutionary War as a private in the Second
Class of Captain Martin Weybright's Seventh Company, of the Eighth Battalion of
Lancaster County Militia under the command of Colonel James Ross, in the year

of her niece Mary Huber(Hoover), and the rest in seven equal parts to Esther
Shoemaker, Mary Long, Elisabeth Erb (a widow), children of sister Ann Frick,
sister Catharine Long, Abraham and Christian. Executors were her brother

Birth & Death: Grave Stone in McAffee Cemetery, Bertie Twp., Welland Co.,
OntarioBenjamin sold his land in Mannheim Twp. to his brother, Abraham, and took his
family to Canada. In 1795 Benjamin applied for land from the Provincial
Government of Ontario. In his application he stated that he had four sons and
wanted land for each of them. The land granted to him was along the Niagara
River about four miles north of where the Peace Bridge now crosses the River.

Jacob II was a Mennonite deacon. He was listed on a deed in 1771 as one of
"the present Elders in the Religious Society of people called Menonists" in
Manor Township (Deed P-1-240). Jacob II sold his land in Warwick Twp. to his
son Jacob in 1785 (Deed Y-2-469, Lancaster.). When he died in 1796, his will,
probated on March 15, 1796 (Will G-1-37, Lancaster), listed the following: His
son Benjamin received one-half of the Manor Twp. farm, and his son Abraham
received the other half. Another son, Jacob, received land in Rapho Twp. The
rest of his children received the residue of the estate. He did not mention
his wife, Ann, in the will; apparently she had already died.
